Happy Birthday, Gary!

Surprise!! Chris and I snuck back to Great Bend this weekend to surprise Gary for his 60th birthday! I must say....Sheryl did a beautiful job arranging this for the past year!

Father and Son

Father and Son...working hard!

5 years of kisses, countless roadtrips from Manhattan to Great Bend, Great Bend to Manhattan, Manhattan to Kansas City, Kansas City to .... the ends of the earth together, hundreds of nights of falling asleep on the couch in front of a movie, thousands of dollars spent on Mexican food, beautiful mornings with Pippy cuddling in bed trying to imitate what she would sound like if she could talk, 2 1/2 years of marriage...still in love...

My Famous Husband

My very important traveling business man spent an evening in New York City, New York and on his adventures happened to stumble across this place...

Guess there's no excuse for him not doing laundry anymore..

It's been awhile!

Well, I was actually just relaxing on the couch here with my hand on my own tummy, marveling at how very strong our little girl is getting! In the last two weeks, her kicks, punches, and overall activity has become quite noticeable! Even Chris has been able to feel her workouts as she tests her own strength! We had our second sonagram on Friday, and what a joy it was! The technician pointed out all her lovely and healthy features as she waved her little fingers and hands up above her head and tried to suck her own little toesies. We could even see her lips opening and closing as she tried to find something to suck on, but isn't quite yet that coordinated. Her ribcage was even moving up and down as she "practiced" breathing! I'll tell ya, it must be all that teaching she hears all day long from me, because the technician says that not all babies "practice" breathing until much later on....she's advanced! She also projected her to be about 1 lb and 3 oz as of Friday which puts her at about the size of a large mango! I tell my fifth graders the updates as to her projected length and weight each week, and they love it! I told them that she is probably about 11 inches all stretched out and they all took out their rulers to compare. Great teaching moment!

And, yes, I have definitely fallen behind on the tummy pics. I've definitely decided, however, that once they are published, they will no longer be bare belly. After about 20 weeks (3 weeks ago), my belly button made such an appearance and my pre-pregnant clothes got packed away...you will be seeing clothing over this baby bump. The only pic we have right now is from Clue night at the Buchanans thanks to our dear friends the Heines. We were trying so hard and came SO close to knowing "who-dun-it"....but our sneaky friends were watching our moves too carefully...or maybe we were watching theirs...

At the moment, Chris is off galavanting in New York City on a business trip...he's so important! I took this opportunity for a girls' night on Monday at the Melting Pot! Don't worry, that's a VIRGIN strawberry dacquiri by my plate. They had a ladies night special that automatically included a cheese fondue, chocolate fondue and 2 drinks...so I splurged! While the cat is away...the mice will play!

Last bit of news before I scoot back to my cozy couch with my Pippy dog to cuddle...Annie moved up her wedding date! I am so very excited for her and my new brother-in-law to complete the family! November 28 can't come soon enough for the love birds to tie the knot. They are bucking the norm and have decided on a beautiful intimate wedding in my parents' home the day after Thanksgiving! Our uncle is even the one marrying them! I am so looking forward to this unique and beautiful experience celebrating their true love! Cheesy...yes....does this big sis love her little sis? You bet.

Fall is here!

Well, this is the latest picture. Last weekend was 19 weeks prego! I'm definitely starting to look not just feel like I'm eating for two! And, every now and again, when I stop to smell the roses, I'm starting to feel little Miss French dancing around. Everyone describes it as butterflies, but I feel like it's more of swirling movement...maybe she lucked out and didn't quite take after me and got some grace! Honestly, though, I need to include another picture before this week ends, my tummy is even BIGGER this week!

On another note, Chris ran a half-marathon this weekend. Wow! I'm so proud of him! Will Buchanan, Matt Meyers (fraternity brothers) and him set a goal to run it in under 2 hours...

Kali and I joined them to cheer them on in the chilly morning...But, we kinda cheated. Panera's bagels and coffee were just too warm. At least we saw them finish!

They met their goal! Sub 2hours for 13.1 miles! They're our heroes!

The early morning crew!

And then on to our Saturday night.
What's better on a Saturday night than carving pumpkins! We invited a few friends over, made some yummy treats, watched the KSU Cats have a tough evening...and on to the main event!

The setup ...

The end result...

The full effect...

Jessica and Jason Heine - true Wildcat fans!

Jenn and Matt Morasco - what a great couple!

Mrs. and Mrs. Buchanan and their pumpkin...true love!

The Frenches and their pumpkin...I totally should have struck more of a "I have a pregnant tummy" pose but you can still see it...it's getting harder and harder to disguise these days...but I don't really want to try to... :) I'm kinda proud of my little girl inside!

After a weekend like this....Pippy says it best.

Another day in the life of the Frenchs

Well, an eventful weekend of the stinkiest type...or maybe we're just enjoying this blogging life too much...
Either way, Chris decided to go Tim the Toolman Taylor on our kitchen sink after it stubbornly decided not to swallow any of the chili I was trying to dispose of. I was sure proud of him diving after the "P-Trap", "Mainline", and other technical terms he kept throwing out at me. Actually, we made a pretty good team, him under the counter and me on google and youtube trying to find the best solution to our problem. He even purchased a "snake" to run down and out the "mainline" and jiggled it around for quite awhile! However, after quite a few hours of vigorous and serious manly work, we relinquished and had to call a real plumber.

Apparently good plumbing isn't just about having the "crack".

Annie's Going to be a Mrs.!

Let the wedding planning begin again! Annie Taylor will be Mrs. Stelle this December! Doug, her lovely boyfriend, summoned the courage to ask for permission and the blessing from her father this weekend and proposed the very next day. She was already sure of what she was going to say...but once she saw the ring, it was a done deal! WOW! Way to go, Doug!

In all seriousness, watching the two of them fall in love has been really exciting. We love Doug and Annie Stelle-to-be!

The Life of the Blog

Neither one of us really understand how to write a blog...but we'd like to try! Knowing that life ahead of us is going to change drastically through the next few months...years...decades...we thought this would be a good way to document some of these changes and keep anyone who might be interested...updated!
Obviously, one of the first things we need to document is the growing belly of Allison. Chris checks her "turkey thermometer" (bellybutton) pretty much everyday to see if it's ready to "pop" yet. She assures him...she's got a lot of room...and weeks to go. Just enough time for him to repaint the baby room they already want to change the color of! Keep in mind, they just chose a color, repainted the room and finished about two weeks ago. We guess this is probably why the Lord decided women needed nine months to prepare.

This idea all started right around a fourth of July party...Allison had a suspicion at this point in time that something might be in the works...but didn't, of course, share with Chris. Thus, the twinkle in Allison's eye...and the complete oblivion in Chris's. Monday morning, July 7, 2008, after the party, she took the first test, discovered "positive" results, and shared the news with a completely unexpecting husband as he walked in the door from the gym.
Needless to say, the last few months have been a little hectic, trying to sell our home by owner, read every book we can get our hands on regarding parenthood/raising daughter (Did we mention she's a girl!?)/saving for weddings already (Watching my father pay for three weddings in under three years...) allows us to just barely keep our heads above water. But while our heads are above water, and together, we might as well steal a smooch while we're at it! Life is an adventure!

Official Documentation

As Pippy looks on, she has no idea of what is to come...

Allison would like to prove why she needs new clothes:

10 weeks...Definitely not a "baby" bump...more of a "have-to-eat-to-survive-this-constant-nausea-and-only-high-calorie-cheese-sticks-and-lots-of-milk-will-help-me"...bump

12 weeks... Starting to have justification for tight fitting clothes

14 weeks pregnant...and the jeans won't button anymore...

And this is the TRUE proof that Allison is eating for two...or at least has REASON to eat for two...
