I really didn't know when I met this guy what all would happen in the next ten years.

It's true, I guess, what they say

that time flies when you're having fun.

I mean, don't get me wrong, 

we have our tiffs, our banters, our fights, our all out brawls,

but, oh the joy of coming back to us.

Wait,

that looks more like it.

Yes,

I'm a blessed woman.

God's been good to me.

And, oh yea, in case you haven't heard,

There's so much more fun to come.

Cake

My baby turned one today.

He's kinda our guy.

So we made him a cake.

(Never mind the pajama day around here. It was much needed.)

(My mom's famous original recipe.)

It was a group effort.

As far as I know there weren't any eggshells mixed in. 

And if there were,

well, I guess it's extra protein. 

(Doesn't everyone's kitchen counter stash teddy bears, lightbulbs and toy bottles in the strainer? I thought so.)

We kept the finger-licking to a minimum

and watched the entirety of the baking process.

It was a simple celebration

but he's much loved.

The baking time is variable. I just watch it until it's barely done in the middle.

Almost

A trip back to my hubs' hometown this weekend

wouldn't have been complete without some seasoned up

grilling.

And it happened to be

almost this little man's

first birthday

(Not sure how in the world THAT happened)

so we figured it was good time for an almost birthday party.

So hats were

snapped on,

balloons fastened tight

noisemakers came out,

and the candle was lit

and almost made it to the birthday boy but was promptly blown out by some little munchkin in the two feet between him and the lighting

though it was fine because Jman seemed just overall confused by the entire situation

especially when to every one pick of his own

six other little hands dipped and licked.

It was a communal cake, really.

Hashtag third child probs.

But actually it all was a glaring success in comparison to my other two's first sweet experience which both culminated in hysterical screams and tears under the pressure of being stared at. 

This guy took in all in stride.

Even when the noise continued through the gifts

and once again everyone but the birthday boy opened the packages

he just found it almost all pretty hilarious.

Until he remembered it was two hours past his bedtime

and in went the thumb.

Which I think is the cutest thing in the world.

So to bed he went

while his audience celebrated

and got sillier by 

the

minute.

Yes,

it was 

a good weekend.
