Present

Like so many mommas, women today
I've been feeling the weight, the responsibility of the present lately.
Photobucket
The stack of books on how to teach my preschooler, the crayons to foster creativity
Photobucket
my fridge is full of verses to try to impart throughout the day...
Photobucket
All in an effort
Photobucket
to be more present.
Photobucket
Tuned in,
Photobucket
more of a listener,
Photobucket
more of a participant,
Photobucket
more of a teacher.
Photobucket
More present.
Photobucket
And,
Photobucket
the reward
Photobucket
has been priceless.

Low

We're laying low around here.
Sipping on anything packed with vitamin C.
I made the decision to stay in
Photobucket
when a dozen eggs jumped out at me this morning and met the floor with a smash.
I hadn't even had my coffee yet.
And then,
the super mom in me made a power smoothie for breakfast for everyone.
I loaded that thing.
Photobucket
And it was disgusting.
I tried really hard to like it,
but I guess there's such a thing as way too much healthy in one blender.

So
we've caught up on cleaning
Photobucket
and played with toys I've been saving since Christmas.
Photobucket
And one little lady
Photobucket
folded an entire load of dish towels and washcloths for her momma
Photobucket
all by herself.

Sometimes these days are just needed.

Scenes

Somehow this space
of memorizing the moments both of the mundane and monumental
celebrating the pause of these precious days
the soaking of the scenery of the life I've been given
it's been a little left behind in the
action that is our life.
So today is just a little behind the scenes of what our everyday has been.

One little man
Photobucket
getting so big
Photobucket
(five months yesterday)
two teeth, two good naps with lots of laughs in between,
and at his early bedtime he thinks his thumb is the best thing that's happened to him.
Yes,
he's growing into his own,
Photobucket
taking it all in...
Photobucket
And there's a lot to take in.

And our wild child
Photobucket
bubbling over with more words every day
(Our most recent fav is the "Nug." and point when someone else is fussing and in need of a good squeeze.)
Photobucket
the first one up every morning
Photobucket
pretty much doesn't stop...
Photobucket
ever.

And our little lady with two brothers is becoming more and more
a little lady with two brothers.
Photobucket
I find myself so equally challenged and inspired daily by the sponge that is her.
(Eight Bible verses memorized and just about has every letter and sound down...)
Photobucket
the learning taking place is just magic for this teacher's soul.

Yes,
the cold has set in
our daily scene is full
with projects half-finished and laundry waiting wet and books strewn and
some days with more patience than others
and most days looking like this,
Photobucket
and every day needing a lot of time with this.
Photobucket

And,
really,
the more time I spend with Him,
the more I realize just how beautiful, just how nice, just how amazing the scenery of my daily is.
Cuz,
really
Photobucket
the view couldn't get much better.

New

My children romped in the snow with their daddy the other day.
Photobucket
The newness of the cold
Photobucket
meant another first for both of them,
the first snowman.
Small, but worth filing away.
And, of course I stepped out with my camera to chase them and hide it away to remind them of someday.
See,
my pictures tend to
only hint at the snotty noses and other unpleasantness that our daily contains.
Photobucket
My day is so full with attitude swells, training, discipline,
Photobucket
and then there's my children's attitudes, training, discipline too...
I've got my list of priorities to refocus my vision
Photobucket
hopes to buckle down and finally
workout, eat healthy, organize...you know...the usual.
Photobucket
But even more,

the calendar turn,
well, it means
the new year is here.
A chance to be
filled with freshness.
Photobucket
reminding me of the beauty of a fresh start,
a renewed ambition
to
lace the routine with peace,
Photobucket
surrender the unexpected to wonder,
Photobucket
and in doing so,
the
the newness is full with strength for the adventure.
Photobucket
I'm excited for the year ahead,
Photobucket
our God is so good,
in struggle He is comfort,
in ambition He is renewal
in triumph He is joy,
In the past, the present,
the newness,
He is.
