Festive

It's been a whirlwind of a month.

And before I even begin to jingle anything holly or jolly,
I have to share this.
Which, in my opinion, is just the twinkliest of all things wonderful.
Yes, even though I've nearly disappeared from the Land of Blog lately, this little ***girly*** darling growing within is still just that, growing.
And growing well. So much to be thankful for.

(By the way, this was about seven weeks ago. Since then, I have grown. Enough said.)
For the next few months, you can actually find me blogging more about the pregnancy of our fourth little munchkin over on the Kansas City Moms Blog.
The first installment of the series is here
It's a pretty fun thing actually, the series follows a first time mom in her pregnancy and parallels our experiences each month. She just happens to be a sorority sister of mine from college and her perspective is equally sweet and hilarious.

So that all has been keeping me pretty busy.
I also have a giveaway for my photography going on through their site. You can enter for a free mini session (as well as lots of other wonderful prizes from local small businesses) by clicking here

Okay, that all being said,
festive-1
on to festive things.
After all, it was a feels-like temperature of about eight today.
festive-4
It was the earliest I've ever been allowed to spread the cheer.
festive-2
We've joked before that my hubby can be a bit of a Scrooge.
festive-3
Not in general.
Just when it comes to the red and green.
festive-5
However, I like to think that I'm a good influence.
festive-6
In reality, I think three and a half little ones in
festive-8
and he's catching the Christmas spirit whether he planned to or not.

That and I didn't really give him an option this year and dragged the boxes out of the basement myself placing them strategically in every main traffic way of our home so it was either stub his toe and choke back obscenities around innocent ears every time he rounds a corner or succumb to all things merry and bright.
festive-11
I win.
festive-13
Ellie, T and I started the first round of decor on Friday.
festive-12
I blasted the wintery wonderland tunes of Amy Grant from my Pandora station
festive-14
and we dug through the dust and glitter to uncover what Ellie called as she whispered in sincere,
encompassing awe,
festive-15
"Magic."
One of the highlights? The lighting of the tree.
festive2
Which, this year, just happened to be met with the general level of enthusiasm I truly feel about the Nativity, the angels, the carols, the mistletoe, the sweaters, the wreaths, the snowflakes, the marshmallows, really everything about the month of December.
festive-18
(And a bit of November when I can get away with it.)
And yes, just in case you're wondering, each met expectation of our so very festive afternoon was equally matched with a disaster or two.
festive-20
A crash into the Christmas tree, my bridal keepsake ornament shattered, glitter strewn everywhere including eyelashes, NFL-induced grumpiness, a traumatically ripped toenail...
festive-21
Ah...the realities of the season...
festive-22
But now I countdown to the first arrival of the Christmas cards. One of my very favorite things.
festive-23
Each year the hubs and I have a little bet about whose we will receive first.
festive-26
:)
And so, our halls look a little more decked this evening.
I'm feeling quite jolly.
festive-24
(The jiggling belly might have something to do with this...)
And ready to continue straight through the season of thankfulness,
festive-25
soaking up the festive
festive-19
one mug of hot chocolate at a time.
