So many things...

Well, this post, despite my sore throat and momma-now and momma-to-be fatigue, is motivated by the fact that hopefully I will have even more photos to share after a weekend of pumpkin, costumes and treats in just a few days. So, in order to save myself from photo overload, I will post now, and hopefully later too...

I really do enjoy this blog thing. Yes, it's kind of predictable. And yes, it's kind of the cool dorky thing for silly mommy and daddys to do, but really it's kind of a chance to journal the really fun things, special moments, adorable scenes of my precious little one (oneS, PLURAL, soon enough...) and her everyday life...

And this particular post's everyday life moments include a special day for Ellie with her daddy! It was our Halloween parade at school last week and this preggo momma got into the festivities with a few teacher friends...

Photobucket

If you aren't familiar with recent children's books, Hogwarts is a reference to the phenomenon (and my dear friend Kelli's (on the left) obsession) of the Harry Potter series. Ms. Frizzle is the much loved, crazy curly red-head teacher from The Magic School Bus. Please know how wonderful these two series are. And how much fun it was to dress up again...Can you tell from the goofy grins on our faces? As the great Kaitlin (on the right) said, "This picture proves we have the greatest job in the world."

Photobucket

So Ellie and daddy came up to watch the festivities and I believe Ellie loved mommy's stars from her Frizzle skirt more than the parade...

Photobucket

Photobucket

I didn't stop her. She's just too cute. And I was just too proud of her. Not for one thing in particular, just of her being her. It's a silly mom thing.

Anyway, you know how it goes around here...wrap up one awesome moment...on to the next. So the rest of the weekend revolved around a visit from Nana and Papa and pumpkins.

Photobucket

Doesn't get too much better...

Just a few steps in the gate and Ellie was mesmerized by the gourds. Had to stop and do a spell check for that booger, yikes, must be a preggo moment.

Photobucket

She really liked the pimply ones. What can I say, she's a lover, not a hater.

Photobucket

But then she kept thinking they were balls to throw. And I've always been taught that, "You break, you buy." And you have to understand, this place was not cheap.

Photobucket

So we moved on. On to the pumpkins.

Photobucket

Kind of literally. And geez is that round tummy cute. Love the way her shirt hugs her tummy, love the fact that she doesn't even think twice about the way it pooches out over her diaper brimmed jeans. Love when she discovers how to stick it out, suck it in, stick it out, suck it, and back and forth until she cracks and giggles. I didn't capture a pic of that one, but that's classic.

She loved the pumpkins.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And then there were some pretty flowers.

Photobucket

Ellie does this sweet thing (yes, another proud momma moment comin'...) where she coos/sighs/"ah"s when she pets something. It's a sign of affection. I think it comes from her silly mommy and daddy trying to cure her of her hesitation with Pippy so we make cute little noises whenever Pippy comes by to try and get her to pet Pippy. So now this is how she pets things...with her own little sound effect. So this is Ellie petting the flowers.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Can't you just hear it?

Photobucket
And we actually managed to capture a (very windy) family photo!

Along with a few pictures just for fun...
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

She's so brave.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Got to love our locks, lusciously blowing in the breeze...

Photobucket
Think these grandparents are giddy over their girl? You got it.

And then moving on to the real deal pumpkin patch...

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

And these pictures make me laugh.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
Lose the 'tude, girlfriend.

Can we just say "Too big for our britches"?
Photobucket

But...we'll deal with that another day. For now, we're her fan club.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And just a little proud of it.

Bed Head

So one morning when sneaking into the little punkers room to get her up...I decided to try to snap the first pic of the bed head pokin' over the railin...

Photobucket

Oh my do I love that 'do.

And geez lou-eez do I love her puttin' on her socks in the mornin'. Such a bright thing.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Okay...I lied. She doesn't quite have puttin' her socks on down...but she sure tries.

And speaking of bed heads and beds...we moved this little missy's bed this past weekend...into her new brand new big girl room...darn that dang shadow in the corner - i haven't figured out all the features of my fancy camera yet.

Photobucket

But I'll tell ya what I have figured out...the fact that little Ellie is going to have a little brother in March...love it.

Birthdays

The day to be the star of the show. Sometimes when I slow down between running copies or dashing between pick-up and drop-off of my students, I see the kinderbabies at school proudly parading in their own special way with the Birthday crown teetering on each one of the precious heads and I think about how special we all used to feel. I have to admit with a middle August birthday, I was always so disappointed when my special day collided with the first day of school, or more tragic yet, fell just a bit too early to be serenaded by my classmates....Birthdays. In my house, the day was started with my dear mama assigning the chore of making the birthday girl's bed to a fellow sister. That was the best. And the trip downstairs to breakfast? I couldn't make it downstairs fast enough just to make sure this was hanging, just like it did every year, for every birthday star.

Photobucket

We hang it still for birthday parties. Like for my dad who must have requested chocolate cake for his special day.

Photobucket

Another tradition, requesting one's own birthday treat. And it centered on the kitchen table. With birthday cards framing the cake.

As far as what tradition this picture honors?

Photobucket

Not one. Just lovin' the fact that my dad ordered cowboy boots for his birthday and they now both say they were my mom's gift to him.

And this picture?

Photobucket

Well, I guess, this reminds me of how much joy birthdays bring? Or maybe just me embracing a proud mama moment showin' off my little El-belle with her Auntie Annie.

And this picture?

Photobucket

Just love these guys. Especially the really cute one in the middle.

Oh, birthdays. We also got to celebrate my sweet friend Kelli's bundle of joy this weekend.

Photobucket
Dear Brookelyn, we love you.

Photobucket
Chris got to carry all the fun stuff.

Photobucket
Gorgeous.

Photobucket
Sweet one year-old baby, gettin' her present time on.

Photobucket
I'll take a pair of those...for me! Love my friend Kelli, by the way. My fellow blog-reading, grading-date, girly-book-worm, teacher-mommy friend.

Photobucket
And daddy Joe. Gettin' into the birthday thing. That's a priceless look of love on this man's face, in case you were wondering.

Photobucket
But I think Brooke looks better in pink. And bows.

And speaking of sweet...
Photobucket
No idea how they were THIS beautiful AND scrumptious!

Photobucket
The classic birthday cake smash.

Photobucket
We tried a picture of all of us...Kelli and I were down for it...the little ones didn't get the memo...

Walking back to the car to go home after the bash, well, walking with Ellie takes a little more time these days...

Photobucket

You see, she just loves acorns.

Photobucket

But I love her...so it works.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And he loves her too...it kind of shows.

And her?

Photobucket

Well...she just loves life. As she should.
Birthdays. Just one more way to remember just how loved we are...

So blessed.

Photobucket

A picture of my beautiful staff at my school celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness and Research. I feel so priveliged to be a part of this community, an amazing group of colleagues who have inspired and supported me over the past five years. So blessed.

Octoberfest as a Parent

So...as a parent, things are different. For instance, initial thoughts of what a wild Octoberfest might imply...well, as a parent...not so much. However, this kind of Octoberfest fits me just great.

Photobucket
So, yes, we celebrated October...

Photobucket
And yes, there were pumpkins...

Photobucket
We think Ellie likes pumpkins.

Photobucket
But we'll save decorating them for next year.

Photobucket
But we loved the chickens...And PS, Ellie's sweet hair isn't QUITE as red as this picture makes it look...something about the lighting, perhaps?

Photobucket
And the llamas didn't spit, that's good.

But Ellie's favorite part?

Photobucket

Photobucket
The corn pit. A huge sandbox full of corn!

Photobucket

Photobucket
And I wondered why Ellie claps after every "great" thing she does? Not after this picture. I'm kind of her biggest fan and make a great cheerleader.

And my favorite part?

Photobucket

My hubby.
